In the Lee Highway Revitalization Study conducted by EDAW, Inc., in association with Patton Harris Rust and Associates and Economics Research Associated, it was determined to break the corridor into segmented, visually impacting, distinct components.
Because of the linear nature, varying characteristics, and 3.5 mile length of the corridor, it was determined the best way to promote private investment and influence the type and form of development would be to segment the District into five components.
Each component or “node” would have its own identity yet still remain a part of a grander, overall vision. Whether the “node” would provide for a larger scale retail center, hotel and entertainment uses, office and residential mixed use, or inter parcel connections with pedestrian amenities would depend on the location and the availability of commercial land.
